bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

Greg: I’m pretty sure that “bibbidi-bobbidi-boo” must equal infinity.

Jon: What’s that, now?

Greg: Well, you know how the lyrics go: “Salagadoola mechicka-boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo. Put ’em together and what have you got: bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.”

Jon: Sure.

Greg: Well, basically that is saying that the sum of salagadoola, mechicka-boola, and bibbidi-bobbidi-boo is equal to the value of bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, right?

Jon: OK.

Greg: And if we assume that salagadoola and mechicka-boola are different values, then even if one of them is equal to zero then the other one must be non-zero.

Jon: Uh huh.

Greg: So that means that bibbidi-bobbidi-boo plus some non-zero value is equal to bibbidi-bobbidi-boo.

Jon: Sure.

Greg: And the only value for which that is true, I think, is infinity.  The only X where X + N = X, where N is not zero, is infinity. Therefore, bibbidi-bobbidi-boo must be equal to infinity.

Jon: Hmm.

Greg: Isn’t that exciting!?

Jon: Sure.

[long awkward pause]

Greg: Well, I think it’s exciting.

Jon: I’m sure that is exactly what they were thinking when they wrote the song.
